sometimes healing means breaking the rules
I hold sacred space for women on their spiritual journey of metamorphosis
The day I sold my wedding ring and used the cash to book a plane ticket to Mexico was the first step I took to reclaim my power. While the life I knew collapsed under my feet, it was a potent portal for rebirth. That's how I found myself riding shotgun through the dense Mexican jungle with a stranger who carried a machete. We arrived at a pitch-black cave with crystal-clear water for a sound healing session. The singing bowls rang soothing tones as I laid there, watching bats fly overhead.
At that moment, I realized I had started living for myself, even though it would be very messy. I was resolved to reclaim my voice and follow my intuition. It was a reminder that the most potent healing can come when we decide to break the rules and live for ourselves.
My love letter to you…
I know what it’s like to be in the place of “no longer” but “not yet”. Maybe you've been trying all the things you heard you’re “supposed” to be doing. You’ve been practicing yoga, meditation, journaling, maybe even working through countless talk therapy sessions… And yet, change isn’t happening (or at least not as quickly as you’d like). You’ve been trying to be a good spiritual girlie, but it’s not cutting it anymore.
Here’s what I wish I would’ve known when those tools stopped working for me.
You’re not “bad” at yoga or meditation. It’s not a personal failure that you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsafe in your body. You’re not broken and you don’t need fixing. You’re not flawed for being stuck in limbo. You’re not crazy for thinking the life you’re currently living doesn’t feel like the life you’re meant for.
Sometimes, your greatest expansion will come from breaking the rules. It’s time to dismantle the beliefs and stories that outside forces have projected onto you; the ones that told you to be small, stay quiet, and keep the peace. This isn’t aligned with who you’re becoming.
The process of releasing disempowering stories and behaviours can feel intense and messy, but it’s also the most expansive growth you’ll ever give yourself. Plus, there will be moments of such pure joy you didn’t know were possible, you’ll find yourself wondering if it’s real!
Maybe that joy looks like earning an income you deserve, following a calling without fear, walking away drama-free from situations that no longer serve you, or the confidence of knowing you can handle anything life throws your way. You’re moving through your days and relationships in a completely new way and it feels so good.
This is possible for you. I’ve seen women go their whole lives trying to find validation outside themselves to finally flipping the script and learning new ways of being. These women are the embodiment of their long-awaited peace and inner safety. It’s glorious to behold and you are absolutely capable of creating this for yourself too.
It’s an honour to watch you soar.
